Williamsburg teardrop cutting and serving board
The Shorewood Williamsburg is an Amish-made end grain cutting board crafted from maple, cherry, hickory and white oak with a walnut accent. Its 14 by 16 inch teardrop shape works for kitchen prep and for arranging cheese, fruit, bread or charcuterie at the table.
Wood and finish
Williamsburg brings several woods together in one board. Maple, cherry, hickory and white oak form the mixed-wood pattern, with walnut providing an accent. Natural grain and color vary between boards. The solid wood board has a beeswax oil treatment and is 1.25 inches thick.
Size and handling
- Overall dimensions: 14 by 16 inches
- Thickness: 1.25 inches
- Teardrop shape with a large finger hole
- End grain construction
The finger hole gives you a place to grip the board and an option for hanging it. Leave that area clear when arranging food. This model comes in one size; check your counter, sink and storage space before ordering.

Hand-wash with warm, soapy water, towel-dry and air-dry on edge. Do not soak the board or put it in the dishwasher. Apply conditioner when the wood looks dry. See our cutting board care guide for cleaning and storage; beeswax and mineral oil conditioner is available separately.

Daily Cleaning: After each use, remove food particles with a nylon brush or dishcloth. Wash with warm soapy water, scrubbing the entire surface, edges, and bottom. Rinse thoroughly, dry with a dish towel, then stand on edge to air dry for at least one hour. Never put your board in the dishwasher, soak it in water, or use steel wool or bleach, as these will damage the wood.
Regular Maintenance: Apply beeswax oil wood conditioner monthly or whenever the board appears dry or dull. After cleaning and drying completely, rub a small amount of oil into the entire surface including edges. Let it absorb for one hour, then wipe off excess. This protective barrier prevents cracking and extends your board's life by maintaining even moisture throughout the wood.
Proper Storage: Store your cutting board vertically or on edge in a well-ventilated area to prevent warping. Keep it away from heat sources like stoves and ovens, and avoid direct sunlight. Never use your board as a hot plate, as heat will damage the glue joints and over-dry the wood, causing cracks.
Remember: Wood naturally expands and contracts with moisture changes. The key to preventing cracks is maintaining even moisture throughout the board. Clean the entire surface (not just the cutting area), oil regularly, and allow proper air circulation during storage. With these simple care steps, your cutting board will remain beautiful and functional for generations.
